DAVID CHALLENGER Scroll down for guide to the plays | Personal Details | Theatrical Experience/Training I have been involved in amateur drama and musicals for the last 15 years both acting and directing in my home town of Sheffield.
Five years ago it was suggested that I produce a play for my local drama group and couldn't find anything suitable that I wanted to produce, so I sat down and wrote my first full length play "Father's Funeral" which finally got to the stage after a major mishap, the week we were due to stage it I lost half the cast with flu and it had to be rescheduled for 3 months. On the opening night we had a power cut, so the stage was lit with candles and torches! In spite of this it was received exceptionally well and inspired me to continue writing. I have recently re-written it and it is currently entered in a playwriting competition. The inspiration for writing "Girl Power" came when I was involved in a play writing foundry project at the "Crucible Theatre" in Sheffield two years ago. I am currently working on a play based on the subject of euthanasia which has recently been the subject of numerous press discussions.
